Not something you see everyday. Although South Africa is known for its Chenin Blanc or Steen as it is sometimes refered to. A very nice example from the Stellenbosch region. The Stellenrust is barrel fermented and aged on lees for 9 months.

NOSE:  Dominated by tropical fruit and pears. It also shows some honey, lees character and spicy oak.

PALATE:  Pears, tropical fruit and even a little grapefruit. A creamy lees texture, steely acid, filled out by spicy oak.

DRINK: Now – 2013

SCORE: 18+/20

PRICE: $36.95.

ANOTHER GLASS? Yes! A very nice wine and a welcome change from the usual Australian fare.
