A Sangiovese blended with 25% Merlot from Toscana (Tuscany), Italy. A good solid wine, but at $30 you can find better wines for less. Look out for the Pizzini 2004 Sangiovese which is much better value for money. Nose: An earthy, slightly strappy nose with plum, chocolate and liquorice. Palate: Fine tannins, plum, with a hint of blackberry. Comes up a little short and lacking fruit intensity on the palate. Drink now. 17.5/20. Food Match: A good food wine. Roast lamb, Italian influenced food or BBQ.
