Located on the Mornington Peninsula, Jones Road is owned and run by the Frewer family. I have also tried the Jr Jones Chardonnay 2005 and Jones Rd Chardonnay 2004. However, I found they had overwhelming canned veg smells and flavours. While some find that it adds complexity, I find anything like that in a wine very off putting. I'm pretty sensitive to these smells and find that they develop with bottle age.
On to my review of the Jr Jones Pinot…
Nose: Classic varietal characters of dark cherry, hint of strawberry with an underlying earthiness and leather.
Palate: Cherry, plum, some spice, a slight steminess and fine tannins. The wine finishes with good length, some spicyness and a little bit of warmth.
DRINK NOW. 17.5/20
Recommended: Yes, pretty good Pinot for the price.
