NOSE: Beautifully fragrant nose of dark cherries, dried herbs, smokey undergrowth, cedar and slight green herbal/twigginess.
PALATE: This may divide the Pinotphiles…Why you ask? Well it tastes like it has had stems in the ferment (whole bunch). I love it and believe it enhances the wine and its structure. I wish more did it! The steminess will become less obvious with age.
So on the palate we get cherries, mushrooms, plum, spices and cedar. Ripe fruit, but not overly. It is compliented by fine ripe tannins and a slight stalkiness. The wine has very good acid, structure and with a spicy finish. Medium body, medium + acid, medium alcohol, medium tannins, excellent length.
DRINK: Now – 2015.
ANOTHER GLASS? Yes! This is a great Australian Pinot Noir and a bargain at this price. One of my favourites.
